House System
What is a house system?
The RCA House System is a dynamic, exciting way to create a powerful and positive school climate. It celebrates students through a process that helps them build character, empowers academic excellence, fosters school spirit, enhances relationships, and promotes a culture of belonging for all.
Why implement a house system?
There are several reasons and benefits to implementing a house system.
- It creates a culture of belonging in the school environment which helps ensure no child feels out of place or like they don't fit in.
- The RCA house system also creates a school wide community as each house is made up of students and teachers from ALL grade-levels. This gives older students a chance to interact with and be leaders for youngers students which helps all our students learn what it takes to be a successful leader and mentor.
- The House System is also centered around character building. Students earn points for their house for following behavioral and academic expectations. This gives all students a sense of responsibility of the performance of their house and helps to create more intrinsic motivation in each student as they realize what traits are, and are not, valued by their peers.
